So no apologies for the snap shot or quality of the P&S photos. This is just for demonstration. Only thing that looks really bad is the image shack hosting.

So when I opened the strobella package this is what was in there.
1 Strobella 1 Strobella holder 1 sheet with instructions 1 strobella condom to keep your strobella clean.

Then my Domokun got a hold of it and ran down the hall way with it thinking it would protect him from satellites reading his mind.

So this is where I shot the shots. No ceiling to bounce the light off. All the lights were turned off for the tests.

This is how far the camera was from the garage door.

I learned quickly that there are a few things about the strobella to look out for.
This is the first mistake noobs with the strobella make. Me being a pro only set this up to show you what not to do

Since the mounting can not handle the awesome weight of the strobella it leans up the hood for extra support

IMAGE: http://a.imageshack.us/img10/1764/img3387t.jpg

Here is a shot bare flash no strobella no bounce card no plastic over the flash. As hard as it gets

IMAGE: http://a.imageshack.us/img80/7601/img3043r.jpg

and here it is the strobella in full effect

but then I shot again and got this

IMAGE: http://a.imageshack.us/img13/4576/img3040c.jpg

It was hard to be consistent because I had to push the shutter button and then go be the awesome model. So the only thing I can see is that I am closer and further away from the garage door.

Bouncing it didnt work out so well

IMAGE: http://a.imageshack.us/img196/3673/img3046q.jpg

So I went back to shoot through, but thought maybe the it was the flash that was the problem. So then I decided I should move it off camera and see what I can get.

Of coarse this being the Elinchrom thread I have to make this relevant ^^^ that picture was set up like this

IMAGE: http://a.imageshack.us/img837/4281/img3053.jpg

You can see how many stops the strobella takes away.

It is 8mm so it doesnt fit in too far

Also my BXRi's dont do too great in the rain so in a pinch you can use the strobella for protection

I mean, sure it's a little more diffuse, but it's still a tiny light source. Not sure how useful that is to real world scenarios.

NO ONE BUY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be more than happy to ship this out, as long as you pass it on to the next guy.

It is fun to screw around with. We could post up our own macro nose shots and what other uses we can come up with

I personally think it is too inefficient to work in real world settings You would need your 580EXII on full blast to shoot things that are more than 3 meters/yards away i think.

It's the perfect modifier for when you need a hard light source.

Brendan's much better at this than me, and he's in Boston, so I think he's a much better tester candidate.
