Ditto here, I have ordered my 70-200mm f2.8L II now, but I will wait for the x2 III.

Ian.

I've had the 2X for years now and it works very well on the mk2.

Here's a shot I took yesterday handheld with my 70-200 II and 2x TC on my 7D:

Focus is on the bird eye with just the default amount of sharpening Aperture provides in RAW conversion:

I don't need a 400mm lens very often, and never for anything professional, so IMO this works well enough for me. The only real issue I ever have with using the 2x TC is that it can make the AF a little unpredictable at times. The 1.4x seems to be better in this regard.

Looks good to me Tim.:) I'm assuming that the MK III versions will be much improved in IQ and AF. $500.00 bucks a pop says I'm right. :);)

I've been looking for information on these Mark III TCs but can't find seem to find anything. Either I'm not looking hard enough or the information escapes me in my pursuit for it.

You won't regret it. First zoom purchase by me in the last two years and by far one of the most satisfying ever. :)

I don't remember if I posted this one but, this is heavily cropped from 200mm.

I broke down too... I sold three of my L-lenses to be able affording this one.

And I love holding it, looking at it... I feel like the first time I fell in love.

Will try to post some of my photos soon: all I can say is that this lens is stunningly awesome!

Kind regards from Trondheim, Norway
