Thanks everyone! I'm hoping Canon will come though with the fix at a reasonable cost. The lens still zoomed and focused when I left it for service. @JeromeGo yes, I'm Filipino! Was it the last name that gave it away?

wow.. how come i did not noticed you both here.. hello mga kabayan

Your lens gives a new definition to the term "barrel distortion"

 The lens is called the "brick" for a reason, even after a big drop and body slam onto the lens, it still works, and doesn't have scratch on it. Only having barrel distortion is amazing.

Sorry to hear that, but i'm pretty sure Canon will fix your love one up in no time. Just bare the short separation.

That first picture gives me the impression that reality itself has been warped. Just looking at it hurts my noggin.

Almost calls for a Norris-esque joke: Reality doesn't dent the 24-70L. The 24-70L dents reality.

UPDATE: Still waiting for my lens. Called Canon Irvine for an update. They had to order parts from Japan for the repair. One more part is needed. ETA: SEPTEMBER 16!

From what the Canon rep told me, its the 4th -5th group lens assembly. I have no idea what that is...but if its taking this long to get the lens must have been severely internally damaged.

Ugh. Now i wait more... =/

^ yeah, when I fall, I always throw the equipment really high in the air, fall to the ground and quickly turn around to catch everything as it comes back down. So far just a broken femur in 3 places, my spine is tweaked with disc wear, and a bum hip, but my equipment is pristine! Life is good!

hahaha ^^^ Thanks everyone. Update Actually: I just received a call from Canon Irvine about the lens. Apparently they were really having difficulties with parts ordering and receiving. So they apologized and said they would like to make it better by sending me out today a new replacement lens! Wowzers?!

I know how some people say if you find the right 24-70 to never sell it and hold on to it. Well i never felt that way about mine and always wanted to send it in for calibration. I hope this new one is spot on!
