If Nikon do this, they might pack a lot more into the new d300s replacement (when ever that is coming out). :D

Woohoo, lots of cheap 7D's coming my way!

I hope the rumored specs are true and this absolutely destroys the 60D. Canon never seems to release a good body (ie 7D) unless it gets a good thrashing.

Updated Nikon Rumors specs:

Nikon D7000: (external link)

I wish it were 1 CF and 1 SD but if those specs come true at that price I'm definitely pre-ordering. Then watch for my Canon gear in the FS section.

I know I can't afford the new d7000. Should I just get the D90 thats out now? I was thinking of the d3100, but the screen only has 230k resoultion...

Save up the extra cash for the D7000. It's what $300 more? Plus you have extra time to save until it's released. Otherwise if video is important to you I would get the Canon 550D instead.

I've always thought Nikon would be the company to offer optimized video in a DSLR, as they don't have any camcorder sales to cannibalize.

I thought the opposite, since Canon has a massive amount of in-house expertise in video, relative to Nikon, that can be leveraged.

wow.. if this does, indeed, turn out to be 100% true, the 60D looks infinitely stupid. Not that I'm planning to switch because there's no real purpose on my part, but I will not be able to recommend a canon system right now.

Most of the glass ppl want is available either way you go, so it's usually a moot point except for some niche cases. And the D400 will no doubt kick the 7D's ass as it should. The only thing that was missing from Nikon's lineup from my POV was a 50D competitor... great build, but cheap relative to it's high end crop line up.

Though, I get where canon was going and what market segment they are after. Unfortunately, it seems nikon is catering more to what I want. I'll switch teams if canon botches the 5D3, heh.

Since I don't want to be broke, and don't want only a camera body without a lens, I'm probably gonna go with the d3100.

Haha! Well said! Canon falls in line with the D90, Nikon turns the D90 into a cheaper 7D. WTF.
