friction ring on 100-400

just bought a used 100-400 and cant adjust the collar enough to keep lens at 100mm when pointed down
is there anything i can do apart from sending it in?

Yeah, just had one fixed.. Forget the exact amount, but it was around $300 or so...... If it still works, I'd keep using it until it doesn't work anymore. Thats what I did with mine.. I kept using it until it didn't push pull... Then sent it in.
