I was out with the kids the other day and they were flying over the house. Snapped a few shots. I have taken pictures over the years, but none too good.

What am I doing right and wrong. Critique me please.

I thought so. But I didn't recognize the paint scheme. Every base I have been stationed at they have been the typical grey.

Need the airplane a little closer...Or a bigger lens.
Try not to take them from the bottom.
Hard to tell where they are from if you can't see the tail..

I think these were with the 28-135. Last one is a tad off. These are both around 100% crops of the originals, with the lens fully zoomed it.

I wish I could get more with them not from under. I live about a 1/2 mile from th approach of the runway. These aren't from any kind of air show, so most of them flying is done over the ocean. All I can really get are approach shots which are fairly higher altitude, compared to where my house is in relation.

I think bigger lens is the answer. Now to get the wife to agree!!

The F-16 should be from the 18th Aggressor Sq, Eielson AFB AK. The F-22's are on an operational deployment so I won't share the squadron/base they're out of.

You are correct. But I believe their squadron is well known. Its in the news papers here on base.

I'm sure that you all know where the F-22s are from, but I'm not sure it's public info. The only way I know is I've got a good friend who is a crew chief that is on the deployment.

If it's on there, it's got to be Unclass/Public release. Unless of course they're in a diff. location than the article, in which case it's probably best not to mention it.

All you have to do is get the wife to shoot with you. As long as my wife gets the toys also.. she is fine with what I buy.

Here is what happens when you shoot to long and miss the shot of the day. Should have grabbed the 100-400, but had the 500 in hand when the F4 came from behind..
