I was working on the Routeburn Track, deep in the mountains, back in 1973 when the peace was disturbed first by a couple of Skyhawks, then this bloody great Vulcan that flew up the valley and had to turn and climb to clear the Harris Saddle. I saw the top of the plane as he turned, and the noise was terrific. I was totally blown away and so annoyed my camera wasn't at hand.
The Vulcan is a totally unique plane, in a class of it's own when it come to heavy bombers I believe.

I don't like panning so much, but seems to be possible with IS too ..

.. it's really very difficult for me to choose the best motor sport gear between 24L1.4II, 85L1.2II, 135L2.0 and 300L2.8nonIS :( .. I really got very good results with all of them.

I would say for late evening and night sessions 135L2.0 and 300L2.8 were just too slow
this was the latest I could get nice shots with a 50D and 135L2.0

It is really quite special to see - the noise alone is something quite unique. Its a sort of hollow 'ghostly' noise mixed with jet engine roar.
Well worth having your ears ring for a few mins :D
