50D, 70-210 f/4, 580EX mounted on monopod. Not an ideal lens for this sport but it's my longest lens. Experimented a lot, this shot was HSS, ISO 800, f/4, 1/320

Lighting looks good but the image is not in focus. Watch your crop (feet)...maybe shoot a bit wider then crop in post

Don't use HSS it limits your distance to much try using 1/4 or 1/2 power in manual mode ( camera in manual too ) or you can go ETTL and control the power with FEC dial

I was doing some experimenting with HSS. Later in the evening I switched back to ETTL, +1 1/3 (f/4 :cry:). This was my first football shoot but I've been shooting volleyball for three years and have used ETTL and FEC. Shot volleyball Tueday night, trying football again tomorrow.

I thought the same after viewing this frame. No troubles...his knee was on the ground so it is just rotated sideways a bit.
