Not only first time shooting some soccer but first soccer game. Told my neighbor I'd get a few shots of him. I sat down about 15 feet away from the sideline. I almost got run over. Didn't know that soccer was using a different colored sideline that was wider than the football field.

I can't seem to insert images from Flickr. Tried inserting both HTML and BBcode. Any help would be appreciated.

Scroll down for pics.

I'm surprised the AR and/or the Center Ref didn't say (more like yell) anything to you, since technically you would have been on the field during play if you were you following the football markings.

I don't have a Flickr account, so I can't help you with inserting an image from that site.

I was actually about two feet away from the soccer sideline. Didn't want to be that close tho.

Okay. Flickr changed something, but I figured it out. This was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. Struggled witht he changing light and lack of it at the end (lights weren't working). But here are a few shots with my new 7D. C&C welcomed.

Not a lot wrong with these Glock to be honest. I'd say 3 is probably the best shot of the lot. The main thing you need to watch in football/soccer is:
keep nice and low with your stance - which you've done well in these
try and keep the ball in the picture unless theres something really big happening that grabs the attention,
crop tight to the main action, but not too tight that you cut off huge junks of the players bodies,
try and show the faces of the main players in the action as far as possible rather than backs of heads,
try and eliminate other players limbs coming into view in your main action especially across faces,
your positioning - start the game on the sidelines then move to either bye-line. Start of games usually has close action in midfield with lots of tackling which can provide great action shots. When the game opens up a bit more then you can move to the bye-line between the goals and the corner flag. Then you should get the goal mouth action. Its trial and error and much depends on the teams involved.

I think you've made a great start and with a little more experience and practice you'll soon be hitting the big shots.

Thanks for the comments, all. And thanks, RedDog, for the thoughful advice. Makes a lot of sense. I was mostly tracking my neighbor and when I started processing these it hit me that I should have tracked the ball.
