I posted this in the 5DC thread, but thought I'd post it here also...really love this lens...also used the 1.4 TC for this shot.

Goodness. Congrats on that shot.

Heh! It's funny -- I just left a post on the 24-105 thread, stating that the thread had taken me down memory lane, and now it's this thread -- I have thousands of pictures in my archives from this lens, going back to '07, some really nice images, and now I feel like I have to start posting shots all over again:)!

Well, maybe not tonight, but it is fun to reminisce!

Man... finally looking to get a 2.8 IS as an upgrade from my f/4 IS, and this thread has me wondering if the Mk II is worth the extra money when I can get a decent deal on a used Mk I...

I don't doubt for a second that the new version is better, but that doesn't change the fact that the original was/is a fine lens in it's own right. I have no plans to change anytime soon.

I read a review that suggested the extra sharpness of the Mk II made the bokeh a bit more harsh... not sure that I've really seen that, but these Mk I images do seem plenty sharp.

I personally do not need the extra 10% the 70-200 IS II offers.
