Ok, so I've photographed tons of babies but not any newborns like this. He was 16 days old today and weighs 7lbs 4 oz. Such a sweet little boy!!!

They are SO good Traci!! I love every single one of them! What a sweet little boy! What did you use for the background in #3, did you add a texture? I really like it!! Great job!!

Thanks!!! Actually, I didn't add a texture. It was a blanket that I had...just one of those smooth kind. It's weird how it turned out looking textured tho. I think it was from PP and adding contrast and darkening around the edges.

Stacey, what do you think about the skin tones? Are they too red?

WOW I thought it was a texture for sure! I really like how it turned out that way!

They look really good. Poses, backgrounds, shapness etc all seem perfect.

People that post stuff this good and append "This is my first..." to it make me want to sell my camera. Great work!

LOL oh my gosh, funny! Thank you so much!! I've photographed tons of babies but not "newborns" and not like this. I was a bit nervous!! Although I have 4 kids so it wasn't the babies I was nervous about. It's just a lot of work and I was hoping I'd get some good shots! I still struggle with blurriness.

Really? Thanks!! I always worry about sharpness. I was also worried because I didn't have any cute hats or very many "props". But it still turned out good and I LOVE his black hair so I wouldn't have wanted to cover it up :)

Very nice shots Traci. Some of the poses are original and I like that. My only nit-pic is in how you PP'd the skin. Seems like in an effort to make it perfect you've gone too far and lost texture. In short, the skin dosn't look natural to varying degrees in different images. What process did you use? There's also a slightly noticeable blue tint in the skin. All in all a very nice set indeed.

Thanks! Yes, I was worried I'd overdo it on the skin smoothing  I did some cloning and I also have a skin smoothing action. I also saw that blue tint...I couldn't seem to get it just right...hmmm Thank you, I will watch out for those things :)

Nice Shots. babies are hard to photograph. Many make it seem so easy though. Yours came out great. Learn from the C&C and take your time with the next photoshoot. Play with custom white ballance to ge rid of tints coming from windows and walls. I would recommend you to cover the windows with a white sheet (thinnest possible cloth if you have) to dampen the blue light.

Those poses and shots are beautiful! I love them! I like #3 a lot because it seems to have the most natural warmth to his skin and I really like how you captured mom and dad's hands around his feet. What a great idea!! Such great pictures.
