day 1

Tadstar managed to get their gearbox changed in just 4 and a half hours! Only to be blackflagged for noise 4 laps in.

Nice one AMD87, I was supposed to be going to the meeting (I am a friend of David Sleigh) taking photos for him but circumstances meant I couldn't. Seeing the photos maybe not a bad thing, he probably wasn't in a good mood after that, top that off with his brother winning the race.
Nice selection of shots.

Chris actually won the race but he got a 5 second penalty meaning tim won. Watching it happen you could see that chris just didnt seem to brake and ive been going to knockhill long enough to know the signs when to have the camera ready but got it just after impact.

Will he have it fixed for the last races or just use tims?

Oly also won the championship beating vic on the line (less than .1)

Nice photos, surprised there was a noise issue as they dont have that problem on homeground, or is there a different limit @ Croft?

Croft has a 105db limit knockhill basicly has none as it's in the middle of no where

Knockhill like Croft has the same noise limit of 105 decibels, as you say with not many to distrub close to KNockhill it may be more vigerously enforced @ Croft

Knockhill is static only for racing Croft is static and drive by,tadstar failed on drive by,we (bruce taxis) gave them a bung for the exhaust so they would pass it which they did but then retired from the race.

Also that link isnt right knockhill haven't did noise test for trackdays for as long as ive been going to knockhill (4-5 years now)

Hi There. I just wanted to takle the opportunity to clarify the noise thing. The tadstar car passed the static noice test at croft, as laid down in the MSA rule book as it does on every occasion at knockhill. This is not in dispute. Croft has major issues regarding noise, which is monitored by the local council at selected or all meetings at croft. After the qualifying round, and subsequent gearbox failure, the Tadstar team were advised of the problem in that the car was apparently more noisy than other cars at a point on the circuit, and apparantly the council decided that the car could race on saturday, but had to be quietened for the sunday race. Tadstar team, and the visiting SMRC officals were shocked when the car was black flagged. As we understand, the council officals changed their mind !!!. It would appear, that there is no definite noise level set, but up to the local council to make what can only be described as an arbitary decision based on "average noise". Tadstar do not hold DDMC, SMRC or Croft circuit to blame for any of this. It was just all very disapointing for the team after so much effort was made. I understand that the whole practice session for the minis was halted on the friday around similar noise issues. The last bit I want to add, is Thank You to the Bruces team for donating a "Plug" for our exhaust, and on a small technicality, the exhaust on our car is side exit........the same side that the noice monitoring equipment is positioned. If it had been a rear mount or exiting from the opposite side it may have had a different noice level reading ??
