Yeah no kidding, you need to get into that 60D Disappointment thread along with a few other daring individuals to provide your input compared to the prior xxD. So far I (and many others) have yet to be surprised by the positive experiences of those that are getting them. ;) Give it a few more months, and all the hate will dissipate (and I'm a poet and didn't kno'it)... :)

Believe it to be 3:2 not 16:9, it fully matches picture dimension, videos will have a b
lack strip, since they are in 16:9 mode.

Oops. Yep, you're right about that. I was running on fumes when I posted the 16:9. But yeah, it's the 3:2 vs. 4:3 yielding more dots.

I posted some on a different thread but here's a few from that outing....
I have to admit I was apprehensive when they announced the 60D. I had to defend my reason to get a 7D but after playing around with it in best buy and then ultimately getting it, I am quite impressed with what this "rebel on steroids" can actually deliver... Cheers..

If you have a mac, you can give this a try: http://www.raw-photo-processor.com (external link)

It often times will allow the opening/editing/saving of RAW formats not yet supported officially. There are several output formats, too.

thanks that looks ideal, only i'm strictly PC;)

I've been quite astonished by the amount of garbage being spouted about this camera. It's a lovely bit of gear - a huge step up from a Rebel, excellent standalone camera and a superb second body for 7D owners. These are just snapshots, but I'm impressed with the colour rendition and AWB on it - much better than the 7D under artificial lighting...

It's part of the product cycle - u should have seen the bashing the 50d copped when it came out, but now it's regarded as a very capable camera

ok a few more observations after taking the camera out to the city park for a lunchtime shhot (images to come).

The button layout does leave something to be desired. The live-view button is exactly where the pad of my thumb naturally rests ...can't count how many times I accidently triggered that today... the distance between the play and trash button is hard to understand.

I got caught in a rain-shower (typical) and found then that the built in flash wouldn't deploy. It stayed that way till I got back to the office and I blew air on the flash mount and it go better...while I could see any it seemed the moisture convinced the camera I had an external flash attached.

Other than that it's great fun with that screen and seems to render colours very nicely (could be more screen quality than anything).

Agree. That's usually the case. Cameras are usually 'crap' post announcement (on-paper pre-judgement). They magically become great cameras once they are actually being 'used'.
