Hi,

I would like buy an "old" Canon EF 500f4.5L...

But I don't know it.

I have/had a 300f4Lis and a 300f2.8Lis...
The first one I consider good, but not very good or excellent.
The last one I consider excellent...

So.. What kind of quality have I have to expect from 500f4.5L?

thanks

I can't speak from experience, I remember several reviews of the lens stating that it was very sharp and relatively lightweight. It weighs 6 1/2 pounds, IIRC.

ok thanks, I hope the quality will be near or better than the 300F4Lis...

(I'll use this with 5D or 1Dmk3)

Last on ebay went for around 2900 €...in the UK.

I have one, it is sharp wide open, AF is fast and it is light for 500 super tele. Down side is the lack of IS. I am selling mine, if interested. http://neilburton.smugmug.com …56_NmReQ#1021397669_Senhj (external link) you are in the alps?
