What is your highest LP-E6 count?

(This Thread is Useless without PHOTOS...)

I once got just over 1800 shots on one battery charge with a LP-E6. I didn't take a photo, but here is one with 1204 and 14% still remaining.

It seems I get more life when shooting sports at 8fps.

I just got my hands on the 5D2 and in the few days I got it, I used the video-mode alot and that really drains the battery :D.

When I go to normal-pictures-shooting-mode, I'll come back to this thread :-).

OK , if this is going to be a compitition of sorts let's clarify a few things.... ;)

That count of 1800 was in your 7D is it Mike ?

Now you must have had some settings so the screen wasn't reviewing and no flash , no IS , manual focus...etc ?
That's an impressive count to be sure , I'll have to try it sometime with my 7D and see what I can get but I'm betting nothing as high as about 11-1200 with normal use and features .
And I'm assuming that's an OEM battery or a 3rd party like a Maximal ??

Yes, it was my 7D with the standard Canon LP-E6 that came with it. It was just everyday normal shooting: flash off, autofocus on, IS on, rear LCD on, etc.

The only thing that was out of the "norm" was that I was shooting sports. (AI Servo and 8fps)

I am guessing that shooting 500 photos at 8fps over 1 hour uses less power than shooting 500 photos over a week or more.

I think my experience is quite normal. It's not a competition. I am just curious to see what others are getting.

Here is what "Tthe Digital Picture" review said: http://www.the-digital-picture.com …al-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx (external link)

Canon rates the LP-E6 + 7D combination at 1000 (800 w/ flash) shots. As always, lots of things affect battery life including Live View (rated @ 220 shots) and other rear LCD use (video), temperature, Image stabilization ... My first battery captured 1601 shots until absolutely dead. I can't tell you exactly what my use was, but there was definitely some Live View and high speed burst shooting in that figure. Canon's rating is very comfortable in my experience.

Here are some high counts: http://photo.net …gital-camera-forum/00UoML (external link)

Juergen Sattleru , Oct 22, 2009; 09:27 a.m.

I have shot 1500 pics with my 7D on the same charge and I still had almost one quarter of power left - that was with 2 sec review time and high speed continuous shooting with AI Servo and IS (mainly used the 100-400). I am very impressed by these new batteries.

Dmitry Chernyak , Oct 23, 2009; 01:14 a.m.

I usually get 1,000 to 1,200 shots on one battery charge in my 5D-II. Very impressive battery performance!

how do you display your previous battery recharge like the one in the post above mine? is this because you are using 2 batteries in a battery grip?

i never get near that much... i use live view like maybe once every charge only for a few seconds.

i only get like 700... but thats from a span of like 2-3 months. it does a lot of sitting too. ill take like 100 then itll sit for a week or so then another 60-100... then itll sit for another week or 2 and then the same process again. maybe thats why i only get 700

Yes, 2 batteries in the grip.

I have gotten about 1350 shots with it on my 7d, well above the 1000 Canon says it gets. I even used IS and AF, and the LCD screen maybe half that time, but I tend to keep the "auto turn off time" short. I get 1500+ with my opteka 2400 mAh.

Another question: I've tried desperately to find this info, and can't find it anywhere!! How long are you guys able to leave the shutter open for a long exposure shot with one LP-E6?? (no battery grip) So far, at 50-60 degrees outside, I can get about 35-40 minutes, sometimes more, but it seems to vary. I would really like to know what other people get because if you get 40 minutes, but have long exp. noise reduction on, and leave it open for 25 minutes, it won't make it through all 25 minutes of the noise red. part, wasting all that time. Thanks guys, appreciate the help

That's pretty high. What kind of shooting have you been doing?

mostly outdoor photography as well as indoor pics of my 1-year-old running around indoors (f/2.8 sans flash). most of the pictures were from a 4-hour event i did on saturday morning. i try not to use the lcd screen too often (same as not having one when shooting 35mm or other film), and i believe it's on the most energy-efficient setting. i thought it seemed incredibly high, too. the last wedding i shot was 9 hours and the battery didn't even go down to 40%... that was with using a flash for most of the reception.

Well, I just got back from a weekend shooting at a paintball tournament. 2 days' shooting with a 7D, 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, IS off, mostly AI Focus, no flash etc. It only occurred to me when I was packing up on Sunday that I hadn't changed the battery all weekend.

Battery remaining at that point: 6%. Shutter count: 6082.

WOW! I wouldn't believe it without a photo. I still have trouble believing it even with a photo. Were you shooting at 8fps most of the time?
