Anyone going to the "Wings over Atlanta" air show in two weeks? I'm renting a 100-400L to take along. Looking forward to the show, but not looking forward to the crowds, buses, waiting, traffic. The last show I went to was 2004 and man, it was a mess trying to get out of there! Total chaos and poor planning. I hope they improve the logistics this time.

Awwww, thanks guys.

One of my favorite shots from last weekend:

More of the above in This motorsport thread

I am considering attending the airshow, but my last experience there was total misery. The snowbirds is the only reason I'm even thinking about it. I will definitely be in the area shooting the thursday afternoon and friday afternoon practices from outside the base.

Yeah - I was thinking about it. The 2005 was a mess as well.

I am planning on going - despite the memories of prior disasters getting in and out.

Does anyone have any ideas about where to meet up? I'd love the chance to get some tips from our ATL experts.

I joined up with the Southeastern Photographic Society group on Meetup.com. There's a group outing for the airshow. Should be 20+ photogs there with the group. Check them out here (external link)

I have no idea how we will all meet up there. I know a few of us are getting to the Lockheed parking lot very early. I hope to learn a few things. This will be my first time shooting an air show with a DSLR.

While I'm still undecided about attending the airshow on-base over the weekend- I would be happy to get together and pass on some airshow photography tips and techniques.

Here are some thumbnails from my last airshow in sept:

If anyone is interested let me know and I can throw something together- we can set a time and place.

I'd love to pick your brain Marc, but I won't have any free time between now and the show. Any quick tips you can PM me would be appreciated. If not, no problem.

Howdy! I'm not far away - basically right between Sugar Hill and Buford.
