I have a strong and sinking feeling that the 1DsMK4 is going to be identical to the 1DMk4 cropper only it will have a 30+MP sensor, still compromised high ISO performance and nothing else different.

I'll be shocked if they do anything more then that with it.

Cheers!

I like the rumors that's it's going to be modular.

But it would have to be good modulare, not 5D2 + Grip modular :D

I still think the sensor in the 1D4 is a cut down and improved version of the 5D2's, the IQ is so similar.

I think that might be a possibility, but in that case the announcement would definitely be this year. I myself would rather prefer improvement in every front, ISO boost, slight speed increment, more DR and fruitful pixels. Therefore stopping at the 1D density would be good enough for me (~27-28MP), going towards more all around camera direction. For very high MP cameras, 35mm can anyway never compete with the MF.

However, going back to my guessing post in this thread, what is more likely to happen, is that Canon still goes for high MP camera. Increasing MP whatever it takes is very Canon-like, even at the expense of having less (capable) ISO for a sports camera.

I know its not specifically connected with 1Ds4 but its an interesting video nevertheless.

Also news about 5D2 and 1Ds4 are targeted at the same audience. Different wallet size but the same audience nevertheless ;) and knowing more about one camera can definitely tell us more about the other.

Thats predictable.

What im predicting is a 5dIII before a 1ds4 is released.

That what seems to be current thinking on CR.

Canon's FF response to the FF competition will most likely be within the prosumer line to maximize sales and profits.

Next year is gonna be interesting indeed.

Well, it's minor things but working with the camera 5-10hrs/day it starts to be annoying.
I would appreciate the 1dIV LCD monitor, menu (and some controls) is outdated, slow, basically the camera could be faster (review time, in-out of menu, settings etc.)

If they would release just a refresh like a 1dsIIIn, bring ISO6400 maybe, custom modes (C1,C2,C3)..
