Does anyone here have experiencing using Pixel Knight to trigger two flash groups, say one flash at 1:1, and another group at 1:8? I read through most of the posts and I can't find experiences with multiple flash units using TTL.

Danoz - i bought this set from ebay and works fine http://cgi.ebay.co.uk …eries&hash=item4aa01a64dd (external link)

Thanx for the tip!

@bkdc; I don't think thats possible, if I'm correct you can only do that in manual.
but you can set multiple manual groups by remote (transmitter).

Not using ETTL. There is only one exposure-evaluation preflash. To work ratios, each group must do a preflash, and the camera evaluate each group in turn.

Flash max power, distance from subject, angle from lens, zoom setting, etc are required to be controlled to produce standard portrait lighting. Just like the old days, eh!

Oh well.. maybe the busy Chinese will eventually replicate a system akin to the PocketWizard Zone Controller....

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

I just (finally) got me a 5D classic a couple of days ago and now my triggers won't work anymore.
Everything is fine on my 40D.

But now on my 5D they will fire maybe 1 or 2 times and then nothing...

also they won't go past maximum synch. If I select 1/ 800th on camera, when I half press the shutter it goed back to 1/200th. even when the transmitter is turned off.

I selected 5D on the transmitter (the 6th group) and have tried turning the power on and off and I even switched back to my 40D, even with the 5D mode selected, it seemed to work fine on my 40D.

need help please..

Are you sure that you are turning the GP 5d to 5d ON?

Other users indicate that the Knight TR-332 transmitter will NOT work with the 40D if it is set to 5D ON. This suggests that you do not have it set.

The shutter going back to a slower speed on half-shutter can be seen when the transmitter is turned off but left mounted in the shoe. (Off is not off!) Are your batteries good - can they be turning the unit off, as they do when low.

When you connect the Knights, do you make sure that camera, TX, and Flash are all turned off, and the RX is on before mounting them?

Hi Clive,

Thanks for the fast reply, I'm pretty sure 5D mode is on.
the TX shows: 5d CH 01
I put the 5D mode in on and tried waiting a couple of seconds so it would save that input and even pressing power to save the input (ON)

My batteries are good, the unit is not turned off.
I only turn on the RX before mounting the flash, than I put the TX on the camera and turn everything on..
I even tried different sequences in turning on flash, camera and TX.

but wait, I am just playing with it and now I find that it works for about 4 seconds and then it stops..
When I select the group on the TX again, it works again for 4 seconds or so..

There is no low battery signal on the TX or RX and it is the same on my other RX's..

I tried pressing immediately, half a second, 1 second and more, but that doesnt seem to be of influence..

very frustating... :-S

Don't need to use 5D mode, just leave it at default when it came out of the box... I have classic 5D and it works on any sync speed to 1/8000

The behaviour of the TX suggests that the unit is turning itself off within a few seconds. That means a new battery is required.

I still find that a battery in the TX will last about 2 days of shooting (500 shots, with a preliminary 1/2-shutter to ensure everything is aligned and to see the Flash-Ready pulse from the AF-assist lights.

I also use the Quick Setting panel, and that keeps the TX in continuous transmission while the panel is open.

I have found that the battery indications are unreliable. I use a multi-meter with a 27-ohm resister across the battery to load it adequately. If the battery is below 3.000 volts, I replace it. Of course, tou only need to do this if you want to avoid erratic behaviour.

Note that the published figures for battery life in the TX are for standby - that is, asleep and not in use arising from any operator action whatsoever. It seems to be very optimistic.

That is interesting - the firmware must be updated! Pixel may have found a way to identify the camera body programmatically.

Danoz - as you have a second-hand camera, it may be worth cleaning the camera shoe carefully, in case there is a poor contact.

thanx everybody for the help, really appreciate it!

It doesn't seem to turn itself off because the lcd screen stays on. Also it still works on my 40 D. the batteries are the ones that came with the transmitter and I've not used them apart from testing them on my 40D.

I'll try to find some fresh ones though to make sure.

I tried the tip of cleaning the hotshoe, but it didn't help. When I bought the camera I brought a speedlight to make sure the hot shoe connector was working properly. It works fine with a flash.

more ideas??
