hey everyone,

I was thinking about renting the 400mm 2.8 for the UT vs. Bama game next weekend but I want to know more about lens rentals.

What places would you suggest and what kind of experience have you had with them.

What do you have to do to return the lens?

What kind of condition was the lens in when you got it?

Thanks!

Since you're in TN... I'd use www.lensrentals.com (external link) ... their prices are competitive, and they're a dream to deal with.. I've rented from them several times because they're the closest thing to "Local" to me... their lenses are always top notch...

Just happened to get my rental order today from lensrentals.com This is my third time renting lenses and backup flashes with them with no issues as of yet (have not tested this lens yet). I have no desire to go looking elsewhere, even if it was a little cheaper.

We have the 400 f/2.8 IS available. You receive the lens (it's inside its own hard case inside a padded box), shoot with it, then stick the included return shipping labels on it and send it back when you're finished. If you have any questions along the way, or beforehand, just let us know :)

I received my rental today, too. A 300L 2.8 and Lens Align to play with. The folks at Lens Rentals are fantastic to deal with...

i'll just echo what's already been said. I used lenrentals, and the process was very simple and convenient. shipping was fast, and the return was hassle-free.

I rented two lenses from lensgiant and had a great experience dealing with them. I called their customer support on a Saturday and they answered the phone and were good to deal with. Selection isn't as good as lensrental, but prices are a little cheaper.

Do you live near a major city in Tennessee? I live in Kansas City, Missouri and its not a large city by any means and I know three different places in town that rent out lenses and other equipment. Rentglass.com is actually based in a KC suburb and they have the option of picking up directly from their office, which was what I do. Tennessee is pretty close to Missouri so check what their shipping time is. It might be faster than Lensrentals.com and Borrowlenses.com

Call up some local stores to see if they rent out glass. For me, I like to patron locally owned places if it's an option.

Just completed my first rental from www.cameralensrentals.com (external link)Rented the 70-200 f2.8 for 10 days. Lens was in New condition. Customer service was phenomenal. A rep emailed me back within minutes of sending an inquiry (after I had placed order) at 10:00 PM CDT on a Monday night. She adjusted my order to better suit my needs. There's no reason I would ever rent from anyone else.

Can you take my picture on some railroad tracks?! No, that's illegal now. I'm really sorry.

I rented the Canon 500L 4.0 from lensrental.com about a year ago. Fantastic service. Great price. Great photos.

7D and as much L glass as I can get.
