Colour management problem?

Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the right section as I don't know if my query is a colour management problem or a website problem. I'll try to give as much information and explain as best I can.

I shoot pictures in RAW, then post process in CS5 which normally involves resizing, USM and Convert to sRGB for web use. So, I'm happy with the picture in CS5, I upload it to Zenfolio where I display my pictures and it becomes grainy and the contrast changes.
However if I link the picture from Zenfolio to this forum or another forum it looks fine. Is the problem related to something I'm doing in post processing or is Zenfolio not displaying it properly.

I just can't understand why it doesn't look good on Zenfolio, yet if I were to link to it from this forum for picture display purposes it looks as I expect. Hope that makes sense.

How about providing a direct link to an image on Zenfolio and link in the same image here, so people can compare the two?

OK, hope this works. Edited second link which should hopefully work now.

Zenfolio page with picture. (external link)

Thread containing pics. Last picture in post.

Here's also a picture I took of my screen which hopefully will show as well. On the left is the forum post here which is linked to the image on the right which is hosted on Zenfolio. The image on the left is similar to what I seen in CS5 and I'd like Zenfolio to display it as such, notice the banding in colours more on the right hand one as well.

Your Zenfolio image looks great to me, but the link on POTN isn't showing the images - they're all showing as "Content Protected By Owner", so I can't compare.

Thanks for helping here stsva, sorry about the Content Protected thing, I've absolutely no idea why that happened as I've never purposely changed any settings to make that happen. I'll link to the thread instead.

Again, I apologise stsva, I have no clue why that's happening. When I click on it, it takes me to a post I made in the Macro section of these forums (First weekend with MP-E) which shows my pictures and others have commented on them. I haven't changed a thing since then but will recheck Zenfolio.

Have rechecked Zenfolio and made sure everything is as publicly avaialable as I can make it. If it doesn't work this time I don't know how to fix it. Thanks for trying though stsva, much appreciated, sorry about problems, hopefully I'll get sorted.

For what it's worth I opened up a Smugmug trial after starting this thread and it displays the picture exactly the same as Zenfolio so I'm guessing the display problem isn't at their end and it's something I need to change at my end.

Wish I could do more with your original issue, but it's hard to tell without having a comparison image. If it's the same image on Zenfolio, then it should look the same coming through here (POTN) as it does there, assuming there's no downsizing or other processing in between, since the display "here" is really just a link to the image on Zenfolio's server.

Here's what your Zenfolio image looks like on my screen (I had to upload the screen capture as a PDF file because I don't have editing software to reduce the size of a JPEG to post right now).

The image you just posted is great and that is how I see on this forum and in CS5 but definately not what I see on my zenfolio. What you say about the image being displayed "here" is what is confusing me as it's the same linked image but I'm more confused now as it looks good in your zenfolio.

I would have said it may be my monitor but then it looks good in the pic you posted and this forum but then why not zenfolio as well. The picture of my screen that I posted earlier is hopefully a bit of evidence that things aren't right. I can't for the life of me figure out why it looks good in your zenfolio but not mine.

The usual suspect would be the web browser, but since it's the same image that shouldn't matter, especially if you have converted to sRGB as stated in your original post, since that should display OK in even a non-color-managed browser.

Think I may have got something figured. I tried IE8 instead of Firefox and it shows up fine so there must a setting in Firefox I need to change as yours shows up fine & your using Firefox. Thank you for your time and help, I wouldn't have figured out what was causing it without your efforts in helping me eliminate things.

Good news of a sort - your linked images are now showing here on POTN.
