The einsteins are everything they say they are on paper and i'm not doubting plastics as the d-lite 4's i currently own ARE plastic.

the overheating issue might be a long term deal, causing the interior plastics to weaken which holds the metal plate together.

i'll wait till the v2's prove to be more durable then the 1st generation strobes then i'll purchase. until then, i'm mildly happy with what i have.

I wasted dough on the Buff stuff, I know from first hand use. Owned it 2 weeks and dumped it. I did see the YT video and didn't know it was pulled.

It's not just the build quality, it's color shifting, and PCB's definition of Watt Seconds. Those last two made a huge impact on me.

I'm currently at Elinchrom and the housing is plastic agreed, but no where near flexible cheap McDonalds Plastic produced in the PCB stuff. You gotta agree.
Why Elinchrom? The modifiers, consistent kelvin, true watt seconds, and Swedish build quality. They have the same or better Customer service.

It's a bargain I know, kinda like buying a Samyang for your 1Ds Mark III.

you had color shifting with the einsteins still? which elichroms did you end up with?

I went with the Ranger RX/AS system with the S head.

I don't mean to bash the end users, I just think if you save a few more bones. There's better options.

It sounds like you jumped on a bandwagon, didn't like it, and are now upset that you didn't do your research first. The issues that you mentioned are pretty well documented on this forum and others (especially the last two that bothered you the most...).

do you any of you know if the "upgrade policy" PCB has applies to these? As in, can you upgrade a B800 or B1600 to a Einstein?

No...entirely new line. Been asked by others before in the ab forum..

And I wait.. My July order (waited for first trickle of reviews. I'm not preordering a product from a company with a history of DOA products (Einstein V1 followed that model))..

When I asked them today (Since I was encouraged since V2s were rolling out), I was told another 6-8 weeks. Is PCB hand crafting and signing each of these? So slow.

Very observant of you! Circuit board traces can definitely be seen through the bottom faceplate opening. Good catch.

Band-aids on band-aids over a cut that's too big for a band-aid. :D

And FM deleted my post.

Thats just plain ridiculously one sided, it was very technical relevant to the topic.

Just use LOTS of band-aids! It's cheap, and will keep you going until the next revision...

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Who's surprised? It really has become PCB Forum mkII. Give it a week, and the banned list will encompass anyone who doesn't bow and worship the great PCB.

WTF is Fred up to over there? Bizarre, given the whole "I've banned Paul" thing of a few weeks ago.
