This is my grandson Jonah at 4 days. 10 pounds, 23 inches at birth. This was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Advice for next shoot would be appreciated.

I've never done babies before, but I think you did a good job with these.

Congrats on your new Grandson. :)

Congratulations! He is adorable!! Such a big boy for only 4 days old too! Maybe try a few shots that are a little pulled back so his whole body is in view, I love when the picture shows just how tiny and new they are!

I really like the one with the baseball! From what I see, you don't need much advice. I agree with Stacey8221, try pulling back some and see how you like that. From my experience with my son you don't have all the time in the world before things meltdown. Keep on making memories, this time won't last long. Congrats on the little guy!

Thanks, all, for your kind comments. The joke at the hospital was that my DIL gave birth to a toddler. I was surprised he was picking up his head at 4 days.
I did get a couple of whole body shots. My prep for this was looking at the great shots posted in this forum section. Here are a couple more.

I have been working on newborns too, and I agree - it's a lot harder than you think it'd be! Maybe try for some sleeping shots? (I guess the first one was sleeping, but it looks like it would have benefited from switching angles so you weren't shooting up his nose - either overhead, or more profile) Also posing with him in mom or dad's arms?

Just some ideas! Lighting and color and focus look great!

Good advice, Looking. Thank you. Never thought about up the nostrils.
