Next time they have a show I need to plan a couple of days off prior to the show. Sounds like practice would be fun to see.

Looking forward to seeing the shots from this weekend, looks like i'm going to be helping my new room mate paint, we may hit up the Cumming fair, and I really wanna make it to the balloon glow at the Harvest Balloon Festival. Both are super close to home for me. I just don't think i have the know how, skill, equipment, or time for the blues.

If you have to leave at 4 - you will probably miss the Blue Angles completely. You might be able to get most of the Snowbirds though. Be aware - getting out takes a lot more time than getting in!

For ease of shooting without breaking your back - take your short zooms and the 100-400 and plan on shooting the show with the 100-400. Props at 1/80th to 1/160th and jets at anything above that. If you want to freeze the action on the jets or anything that doesn't have a prop - 1/1000 isn't too much.
Don't come home with frozen props! Use the short zooms for static displays and most of all have a good time.

Best thing about an air show is seeing it. Don't spend all your time with your nose pressed into the camera back.

I love air shows, me and my old man used to just eat lunch every day outside dobbins watching stuff take off and land.

Marc - Dinner was great! It was nice to catch up. When things heat up today I will probably head over to that field...and take my lunch hour....

Looks like another nice day.

Just picked up my 100-400L for the show. Wow - what a great lens! I wish I could buzz over to Marietta but I'll just stick around my backyard and practice on the birds. I also rented the 70-200L IS f/4 for my wife but due to a focusing issue they upgraded it to the f/2.8. She is going to struggle with that big lens all day! But so far she loves it (and of course wants to buy one now). ;)

Yeah - I rented the 100-400 once - loved it so much that after renting - 3 weeks later - I owned one. Now my most used lens....

Rentals can really be bad for the bank a/c.

The Cumming fair was nice. We went last weekend. Here's a photo set from that night: http://www.flickr.com …s/72157625008030451/show/ (external link)

It was much less crowded than the North Georgia State Fair in Cobb Co. And so easy to get in & out.

I'm heading out to the airfield right now, hoping I can meet some of you guys and gals.

Wearing a white hat and carrying a black shoulder bag (Crumpler 7MDH).
