Good luck, keep your back to the wall, and don't bend over.

Never a truer word spoken. :D

Question for you lot. If you were to consider taking on private tuition (as in not through a uni or college) for any area of your photography what would you be looking for help with? And if it were being offered, in what sort of format would you prefer? Solid 8hr weekends? Evening class over a long period, short intense night classes etc?

All ears.

Seriously your feedback would be really appreciated on this. The outfit I'm now working with for photographic lecturing are looking to expand the courses offered to provide options more suited for people above beginner through to borderline know-it-all pros. All suggestions welcome.

Cheers, Dave.

The course I did years ago was 2-3 hours on one evening for eight weeks, that was good. A whole day course for the weekend would be good too, with a small group.

All ears.

Small amount of theory. Shed full of practical. Composition...and lighting. I would prefer a full on weekend or possibly two slightly less full on.

Dave,

Format: I like either one evening a week (2-3 hours) for a number of weeks or a one-day weekend workshop. Springing two days free on a weekend is tough.

Topics: um, practically everything? But especailly practical lighting, especially how to visualize strobist-style lighting. How to coach and pose models.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?

Dave I taught some evening classes few years ago and they were for 2 hr blocks. Easy to teach and students didnt get over loaded with info.

Full days would be a lot for a tutor and students, unless it was a workshop type thing.

I have thought about this since I did an earlier version of the course that you are now taking.

I would like to see a course on advanced "project" type work. Being set or agreeing on a theme; developing some narrative around the theme; some targets, objectives; shooting the theme; selection, editing, and of course presentation.

The aim of the course would be to develop some rigour and discipline in the student (staying on theme, delivering to the objectives, meeting deadlines, etc) at the same time enhancing the technical skills learned in the first course.

I think the format could be a mix of evening classes, online mentoring and perhaps a weekend or two. The end result would/could be an exhibition of the works.

Sign me up for the first one.

Good feedback guys, greatly appreciated. If any further thoughts pop into your head, go for it! :)
