I would like to hear from people with experience with the 50D and the Zeiss 35mm Distagon f2.

Don't try it. You may end up with a lighter wallet :) It's a great lens.

Yup. Its a great lens (regardless of crop or FF). These were taken on the 50D with the 35:

Never used it on that body, but the lens is spectacular. If you need af, get the 35L, otherwise it's a no brainer. I recommend you just go ahead and buy like 3 zeiss lenses, otherwise you will just keep lusting. Good luck!

I used to have the ZE 35 f/2 on a 40D, but I moved on to the ZE 50 f/2 on a 5DII. You'll love the ZE 35, I'm sure.

Thank you. The cost doesn't bother me, but the sharpness does.

So which one 35 or 50 is more versatile on the 5D II body?

Really depends on your focal length preference. In my experience, the ZE 35 has a more dreamy look while the ZE 50 MP is sharper. When talking versatility, the fact that the ZE 50 MP does 1:2 might be important to you too.

I'd love to have the ZE 35 again, I wouldn't mind having both a 35mm and 50mm - even if they're quite close in FL.
