I've searched everywhere, though I doubt I'm using the right terms. I was given a 50D on which the sticker/top of the mode selector (where the camera cycles through auto-as-tv-manual) is missing, therefore making it a pain to figure out which mode it's in.

Any suggestions on where I can obtain a replacement? Thanks.

Probably Canon. Call them to see how much to replace the part. Can't be too much $$$

Call Canon tomorrow... You may want to look at some pics of a 50D and turn the dial in either direction until it stops to get a reference point.

My 30 A-Dep is the last setting turning the dial clockwise.

Turning all the way clockwise the last is C2. From there, turning counter clockwise is C1, A-Dep, M, Av, Tv, P CA, Green Box, then other auto modes...

No need to buy a new sticker.
Find the manual mode and lock it in there ;)

Thanks a lot, I figured Canon would be the best shot.

Also, I really appreciate you laying out the positioning for me. Helps a lot.

FYI for anyone who was interested, Canon doesn't carry that part individually, nor do they even carry the mode selector. You have to purchase the entire "front cover" which is around $110 and the sales representative didn't know whether or not it could be swapped by the customer.

Go get your own sticker and write the modes on it yourself! Seems it'd be a whole lot cheaper

An authorized parts company for Canon is Global Electronics Supplies Inc.
Give them a call, as they might have a listing for just the sticker (worth a shot anyway)

Thanks, I'll definitely give it a shot.

In response to the above question, my friend's mother purchased a 50D about six months before her untimely death. He offered it to me one day, as it was sitting in a closet with no interest from family members.

you should be able to see the modes you select on the main LCD , just hit the info button until the camera settings comes up.
