I thought I'd be worth noting, they upgraded my shipping to Overnight without me even asking. Still sucks, I have to wait but they did everything they could to make me happy... and I didn't complain at all just explained the situation.

So far so good. I'll let you guys know what the new shutter count is when I get the replacement.

Okay, i was just confirming what i had thought.

Do they offer 40D, 50D, t1i, etc?

They actually offer all three of those cameras, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm probably going to be picking up a 50D in the next few days. With the CLP the total cost, with tax, would be about $920 for the kit. Adoroma currently has the 50D kit for $899 with a 1 year warranty.

I've heard that Adorama doesn't use Canon for repairs, so I'm wondering if their refurbs would be from some other source or direct from Canon just like a CLP purchase would be?

You're correct--the warranty they offer on refurbs is inhouse. They likely get their refurb bodies/lens through Canon though.

If you're not worried about the warranty, just get one used. The going rate for a used 50d (no warranty, no history) is in the range of $650-$750.

So after a portrait shoot today, some lens testing and general playing around with the cam I ran the 40Dshutter count app and it says 277...I'm sure I shot close to that today...another indication that my cam was new or atleast 99.999% new.

one good thing about Adorama's warranty, if they don't have a replacement body in stock, they give you the full purchase price as a credit.

last year I bought a refurb 40D for $699. about 10 months after having it, the dial started to mess up. I sent it back to Adorama, and they gave me a credit for $699, which I put towards a brand new 50D.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll probably go with Adorama to save a few bucks and get the longer warranty.

And you heard this from your best friends uncles neighbors brother? Or is this firsthand knowledge?

Because I called them around 3pm, and all of the current promotion prices were in effect.

I wouldn't be scared to per say. They immediately acknowledged that was high and said they would do an exchange for another one. God forbid they did refuse, you just return it. I'm sending mine to a Return Center in WI, I'm promised as soon as they get it the CLP will release another one to me. They're placing the order but putting a Hold on it until they see the Return of the first one in their system.

that's what they did with me. I can see the order, and it shows as "shipment pending" but nothing will happen until they get my camera back. it's slated to be delivered tomorrow to them. they didn't say anything about upgrading my shipping, so I guess I'll just get it sometime next week.
