I want a canon equivalent of the 35f1.8 AF-S nikkor.

Its stunning. Passes the nyquist frequency of my mates D300 by f2.2, even at f1.8 its damned sharp, great bokeh, decent corners, nice focusing.

All for a realy low price too.

One lens I would buy on day 1.

Yeah man, I used to have a d300 with that lens. Incredible combo. Suuuuuper sharp at 1.8

samyang announced it's 35mm for Canon. I think it could be very promising as a mid-point between the 35L and the 35 f/2.

just thoughts.
Then again, if you need AF...

I want an EF 35mm f1.8 with the build quality of the 28 1.8/85 1.8.

I loved having the 35L, but I had to sell it. I just wish they made a better built 35 f2.. Like the Nikon 35 f2. The build of the current 35 f2 and the AF motor are embarrassing.

I agree with this roast. And thus, why Sigma is getting my money even though I would love to give it to canon instead.

Yeah, but the Sigma doesn't help the OP or any others shooting FF...

... hence my reason for picking up a MF Nikon 35 f/1.4 AI and an adapter. :D

I guess if you shoot full frame you have the 28/1.8 35/2 and 35L thats a fair old selection if you ask me.

I wish for an 8mm-1000mm f/1.0 lens that costs $100.

Pass me some of that ice water while I'm waiting...

... an EF-S 15-55 f/2 IS made out of metal and that does not extend while zooming.

I was thinking that would be awesome! but I would settle for 2.8 if it weighs in at less then 3 lbs, and dont forget a 6 stop IS, weather sealing, and a perfect MTF chart. I'm even ok with a higher price tag...say $1k
I'm going for a dip in my ice water pool now. LOL

Isnt that what the C1,2,3 modes are for? Set up the camera how you want then samve it to a C function and your done.

Thats what i thought when i read his comment, thats precisely what those modes are for

Anyways, The Nikon 35mm f/1.8 is DX, it doesnt cover a full frame image circle, thus why its so cheap

If they updated the 35mm f/2, due to the cruddy conversion rate and what they'd need to add to make it sellable(Better glass, coatings and buid), you're looking at a lens thats going to be $600-700, Not the $300 you so desire, Hell if its f/1.8 its probubly going to end up $800, This is probubly why such a lens doesnt exist right now, Simply nowone would buy it at $800 when you can get the 35L for not much more...Though i would wager it would be significantly sharper

Also, I doubt Canon is making consumer full frame lenses anymore, Consumer grade lenses will be EF-S, Full frame lenses will only be L in the near future...

I do see an EF-S 35mm f/1.8 or something similar for $200-250 coming though, Just not a full frame one
