With this setup, does the flash still offers TTL2 ? Or just manual settings ?

Another one...handheld at 1/25, ISO 1250. Again with the kit lens (18-135mm IS)

How much PP did you do on this photo? Both of these that you posted look great. I was nearly convinced I couldn't get photos this nice with my kit lens (same 18-135 IS), and that I'd have to invest in something much more expensive.

I have seen others on flicker shoot with other cheaper lens and pull some amazing shots out of them...

Some are quick to condemn the so called kit lens as inferior but I've seen in several posted pics where they work pretty good given the right settings and conditions .
Just because you have an L lens in the same focal range doesn't mean you're going to always get a better shot , a lot of other factors go into the outcome as well .

There are some 7D shots in this thread https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=937682, although it's not necessarily easy to find them.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

Re kit lens: I suspect many of the lesser quality shots coming from kit lenses is due to the fact that mostly people early in their shooting career are using them. Give that same lens to someone with more experience, and you'll see some pretty good stuff come through them. Two years ago, I couldn't get anything that didn't make me mad out of my camera. Today, I can take those same old lenses and do pretty well with them. I know better how to use them now, and what not to try to do with them.

Think I'm starting to understand how to use this beast effectively. So many shots, so many OOF. The 7D is a harsh mistress.
