Speedotron users, untie!

I just got a set of used gear. 5 202VF heads a 405 pack, and a bunch of reflectors. I'm currently looking for a used 1205CX or two to complete my kit.

Any other Speedotron users on here? Search doesn't bring up a lot of results about using the lights, mainly about the 22" beauty dish everyone is using with their other brands of lighting gear.

I've been a long time user, fan, and PROUD owner of Speedotron Equipment (although currently I use Photogenic). I've used their 4803CX - 2403CX - 1205CX and 805 Power Packs (never used the 405 but I am currently looking to get the Speedotron Explorer 1500 Portable System) along with most of their Flash Heads and I can tell you that you are going to totally SATISFIED with this equipment. They very rarely fail and are built like tanks. I understand that their 22" BD is excellent (based off of the Mola Designs) and feature 2 Grids to provide versatility.....

I only own the beauty dish.

Can I join the untying anyway?

I currently have a Kacey BD and ordered an adaptery to make it work. I liked the light I got using it with my bees, so I'm going to see how it works with the Speedos.

I've owned a set of Speedotron Black Line studio strobes for about 20 years, and they still work great!

I just got started with lighting and I am using a Speedotron 400ws pack and 3 heads that were given to me by a super cool POTN member. Just needed a couple modeling lights and a reflector. Still haven't done anything good with them though as I am trying to figure all this out.

About using a 2403cx vs a 1205cx with a Tronix explorer: I've read that packs draw the full amount of power when they recycle, regardless of what they're set to, it this true? If I have one light plugged in and turned down to use 200w/s, will the pack draw more than that and kill the battery faster as opposed to using a 1205cx?

I use Speedotron except for a few odds and ends of other brands.

I do not think these units draw the same power for all shots. If they did, the big ones would blow circuit breakers even more than they do, and the recycling time would always be the same.
