Many of you take such outstanding portraits and people shots with this lens. I keep trying :-)

I just placed an order on one of these at Adorama - does anyone know if they are shipping out the newer versions with the new finish?

Seems like most people have gotten the newer ones, hopefully the old inventory is depleted.

What I don't like even more than the old finish is the new sigma 30's with the new finish on the body and the old finish on the manual focus ring. The brand new 85mm f1.4 looks so much better with everything matching.

It's like 1mm....You don't notice it in real life....It shows up more in the pictures...The 85 has a different feel all together....It's like a rubbery, thick coating...Like no other lens I've used...very cool.

Thanks for the response. I hope I get one of the new ones too. Is there a starting serial number I should ask for when asking for the newer version? I know for one of the other models, the new ones start with 11....not sure if this goes for the 30mm too

They were out for a while, I suspect waiting for a new shipment, then sent me a new model (I think I was one of the 1st to get one), so I'm guessing any from that point forward would be the new model from Adorama at least
