After going I would say yes. They had some HUGE boxes 4 foot by 4 foot military type stuff for 50$ Could have fit everything I have but no way to pick it up and carry it. I think I payed 75$ for the smaller one on the right

Do you know if they carry all their models? I dont see a addy for their store or anything? Is it the headquarters in Torrance?

Some of us may be concerned about movement of a lens within a padded partition, despite the padding.

This Temba gadget has worked for me, for example, when there's too much wiggle room around a body or lens. About $12 each, they come in three sizes, the 16" is appropriate for bodies and lenses, even my 100-400L. There's a 22" for laptops.

One side is padded nylon with Velcro hooks on the corners; the other side is covered with Velcro loop fabric. 4 different colors.

Pelican had their factory sale so I got all this for 290$
I havent distributed it yet but I am thinking of using the big ones as my luggage for clothes and stuff when not used for photography stuff. It has the pull and pluck foam cubes

When was this? How can I know of any factory sale?

Thanks

Just received the 1650 this morning and done a quick set up. When I have more time I'll organize it better, this thing has a bunch of room!

for those of you with the 1514 w/padded dividers.....have you tried to get the laptop sleeve that velcros on to the lid?! or did you come up with another solution to neatly tuck away the laptop?

i want the 1514, but i'd need to have somewhere to put the MacBook.

Definitely not as uber as some of the mega cases in this thread, but my humble setup (as photographed by the Blackberry Curve mkII f/938.7):

Just picked up the case today, a 1450. Glad I didn't do any smaller since this one is already kinda pushing it. Holding a 40d with 24-70 f/2.8L attached, 70-200 f/2.8L IS on the side, 580exII on the other side, and just enough space to squeeze in the spare 40d battery, a circular polarizer, and a few CF cards.

After a close call with the above gear packed in a Crumpler Whickey and Cox in a door-less Jeep during a few river crossings... let's just say I'm not taking that chance again.

I like that! Looks like a 1450 is on my list now!

Anyone got any pictures of a 1450 with padded dividers with some photo equipment in it?

Saw this one:

Looks promising! Anyone got any more?

anyone use a 1510 just to put an existing camera bag into for air travel? IE to roll it around and check it if needed, but then have your normal bag in there for once you arrive? Looking at the specs it should hold either my thinktank sling 20 or retro 10 inside comfortably with maybe a few other things? Then have a small backpack as well as my personal item that I can attach to the handle so everything is wheeled through the airport? Then the case is water proof when I get there as well?

if not, for you guys that fly with 1510s, what do you use once you get to where ever you're going? The pelican is the clear winner as the best transport case (-vs- say a TT airport take off or international) but do you put a camera bag into another checked bag or just deal with shooting from the pelican?

anyway, to add to this thread, here's my 1050 with 2 iphones in their cases and a NEX5 in it. This was my beach/boat setup while in Antigua and I LOVED it. I just tossed the 1050 on a shoulder strap and wore the case. I'd stop, pop it open, shoot, then put whatever I was using back in it:

IMAGE: http://www.benjacobsenphoto.com/blog/wp-content/gallery/antigua-2011-iphone/img_1154.jpg

I also got the 1015 for just the iphone, it turns out you can fit 2 as long as you don't get the i version... But as soon as I realized the phone AND NEX fit in the 1050 I stopped using it.

Alright, I've read 10 pages ranging back over 2yrs now and I still have a question or two. I was initially going to go with the 1514 but upon seeing what everyone has managed to fit in a 1514 I'm worried that it's not big enough. Here's what I'm trying to fit:

  • 5DM2 + Grip
  • T1i + Grip (Kit lens, it's the gf's)
  • 20D + Grip
  • 24-105 f/4
  • 17-40 f/4
  • 70-200 f/2.8 IS
  • 100mm f/2.8 Macro
  • 580EX II
  • MR-14 EX (Macro Flash)
  • Various accouterments (pelican case for AA batteries, battery pack for flash, etc)

So my question: Could I fit all of this into a 1564? Would I have a bit of room to add gear (looking at a 24-70 f/2.8 and eventually the 8-15 f/4 fisheye) in the future?

PS Thank you guys for this thread, I'd be LOST without all of the photos of the cases + your gear layouts. :) It's a HUGE help with this!
