Nope, won't work... Back when I had an original megatron (think it was in the late 70's early 80's - don't remember but it was when it first came out and I was REALLY young) - I was flying with my family and the airline made me put it in a little manila envelope which went with the baggage attendant and I got it back after we landed (the airport was kind of small back then in hawaii).
