Just some grabs I got this week.

I feel sorta bad for taking advantage of this moment. But, it was too cute to pass up.

The last shot was taken on the pier in Ventura, CA. This was the exact moment he realized that through the cracks he could see the beach.... 30 feet below. I found out that day that he's scared of heights... Or at least terrified that he might slip through the cracks.

In any case, he refused to stand on or anywhere near the pier that day. Poor lil' guy.

C+C encouraged.

Thanks.

Grimlocker I love your photos! Any chance we could get a look into how you go about your post processing? You really know how to make eyes pop!

Don't quite understand the first one but the last one is just great! They can't always be smiling and your explanation for the meltdown is just plain funny! What a day! Thanks for sharing it.

Wow. Thanks for the feedback. You're too kind.

Hey, Thanks Jay. Much appreciated. I'm excited that you enjoy my photos.

As far as my workflow. Really nothing magical. I just clean up the skin along with any distractions (e.g. wild hairs, branches, etc), then defog the image, twist levels until I get the contrast/brightness I'm looking for. And finally I process the colors as suited. I use Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 3 combo to do all of my editing.

Here's a good tutorial on defogging - CLICK HERE (external link)

Defogging been pretty helpful in giving my edges more definition. It really makes a difference in my workflow.

To me, every set of photos differ ... so I have separate techniques for different situations.
Bottom line, It's really just what style I think fits the best and helps tell the story. For instance, some series simply look better with standard color or BW, while others stand out with cross processing or split toning.

I sorta let the images guide me through the process.

That last one is so my favorite. I love the one little tear drop.
