I know this is probably pretty unlikely, but I'm in the Billings, Montana area and was just gifted with an Xti from my girlfriend. I've read about SLR photography a TON over the last 8 months or so, but would like to get together with some forum-goers locally and go shoot.

If anyone else is in the area and wants to get together sometime, please post and maybe we can figure something out!

Look forward to meeting you all!

Anyone From Montana?

I looked 10 pages into this thread and didn't see on thing from anyone in Montana. Surely there are number of folks from Montana on here! Or maybe some who will be in Montana shooting? Post here and let me know!

I live in Sheridan, that's in SW Montana, about an hour from West Yellowstone. It's about an hour from Butte, and an hour and a half from Bozeman.

Cool...I new there had to be someone at least!

Where are your favorite places to shoot? Just local there in the Flathead, or do you have somewhere else you like to go?

I lived here for 15 years and moved away for 3, now that I am back with a new hobby I will be going to all the places I know will make some good shooting, just gotta wait for the snow to melt. I will be setting up a Montana gallery on my website as soon as I have some shots to post.

Sweet! I'm gonna be adding a gallery of Montana pics to my website also. Up until recently, I've done mostly sports, but I just started last November. But there is certainly plenty of stuff to photograph around here. I know the Flathead Valley is beautiful too! Have fun, and if you're ever in SW Montana, let me know.

I went to high school in Billings. Went to college in Bozeman and worked briefly in Billings before moving to Oregon a few years ago. Parents still live in Billings. I'd love to hike up the Rosebud and shoot Mystic Lake some time when I'm back there.

Yeah, I heard Mystic Lake is a good place to shoot. My wife lived in Billings for a number of years. Cool, thanks for the responses!
