At least with Springsteen, they provide a riser to stand on. Sometimes the riser is very short so I started bringing a step up with me in my camera backpack. It folds flat and fits in the laptop pocket and only cost 8 dollars in my local Ace Hardware store. One of the best pieces of photographic equipment I have ever bought.

thats crazy for Springsteen Renee. there were 4 of us shooting and 2 had no clue we were shooting from the board. 1's longest lens was a 135. the shortest in your picture isnt even 200, that was my group's longest

135? Hahaha. that would require a bit of cropping

I think in the image there is someone using a Nikon 100-400 (he won't have been happy about the shutterspeeds he got) and 2 other Nikons with a 70-200 with TC.
A few were using 300 with TC, 3 longest lenses in the image are 500s I think.

The circle is Max's kick drum. You can barely make out the DW logo on the top. Not that I wouldn't be able to draw the stage design of Bruce's last two tours from memory or something.

I just got the nod to shoot Roger Waters doing "The Wall" live at scottrade center in St. Louis on friday.

Natalie Williams tonight, still haven't received word about that, but just in case

I will also be at the Freeze Festival, more likely to stalk the Main Stage, so if anyone will be there, that is where I'll be
