Help a dummy figure out what this is for.It came with my Manfrotto tripod #055XPROB
I did'nt see anything in the paperwork ?

It's a marginally functional "socket" for tightening the fasteners on the legs.

Yeah. It's mostly useful for giving you something black to look for, in the dark, when you feel or hear it fall off the tripod :p

Yep, lost mine at some point and have regretted it. Top lock is always loosening up. So the mini-leatherman is pulled out of the glove box to tighten back up if I remember. Otherwise The %#$@^ thing slips down on me the entire day.

Mine is around here somewhere, probably stuck in one of the junk drawers somewhere. I've never used it (I have the older version of the 055XBPRO legs) in the several years now of having the legs. If any of the nuts were to come loose on the legs I figure I'd just go out to the garage and find a real ratchet and socket :D.
