What camera do you have? A lot of users seem to report some front focus issues, with occasional back-focus here and there. If you have a camera with micro-adjust - it helps out a lot. If not, you can also send it to Sigma for calibration.

I have a T1i, and I believe that it does not have the micro-adjust. I was using the focus test chart and found out that it has little front focus issue. It's about 5-10mm off.

Would they charge me for the calibration? I heard from users that Sigma might not bother to do the calibration if it's off a little.

Usually it is free if it is under warranty - call them and just ask. I know if it were me (and if I couldn't adjust, I'd send it it. You figure a $400 lens should be able to focus the way it's suppose to. :)

with a T2i, they asked if I could send the camera so it would be as close a possible. Ummmm, I'm not going to be without my body for 2-3+ weeks. Much less chance it being handled roughly (shipping or otherwise). So, I just returned the lens... and plan to get another soon. Honestly, all this has made me just want to get a 7D and sell the t2i, I like the feel and additional display of the 7D.... and I'd have MA. Dunno..

anyway, I would print out (high quality or even some cheap walgreens print) several examples of missed focus and include that.

Since I'm not living in the State, and I have to pay $95 for the calibration.

Does anyone has some samples about the lost of focus?

Pffftt.. all this talk of micro adjustments. I've never done that to mine, although it could be because I can't on the 40D

A few more from our little zombie walk last weekend.

Thanks! I played around with some different editing on the photos. I'm usually one to hate noise, exc but for this set it really didnt bother me and i just edited.

So thanks again, the slightly 'vintage' feel was what i was shooting for with that last photo.
