This was my first attempt at a large family group photo. This is my family and it was tough trying to take the photos and be in them at the same time. I'm still learning but I think it turned out OK. I still regret the family's choice of white shirts but it was all everyone could agree on. Anyway, let me know what you think.

First the wide shot:

Looks great to me, the closer crop is better and the woman on the left I would step her to the side a bit, other than that you did a great job.

Yes, I agree. I was having a great deal of difficulty arranging everyone then running to get into the picture. I also think the closer one is a better photo of the family, but I really like the wide shot. I guess I like the cinema-graphic feel. Thanks for the input.

Looks like a nice shot to me. Doesn't look you are out of breath from getting into the frame! HaHa! I like the close crop as well. The white shirts look good with the background IMO.

I think you did a great job! These kinds of portraits are not easy! I like the arch. How about a crop somewhere between the two that includes the full arch and the tall plants on either side to give the photo a nice frame?

Nice shots.

My only comment is on the close up image. The guy kneeling on the right has different colored jeans than everyone else. My eyes gravitate towards him for this reason. I suggest darkening his pants in PP.

I think it's very good! Especially since you ran into it. The lighting is perfect.

We started about an hour before sunset. We made this picture first so it ended up about 45 minutes before sunset. If I had to do it over again, I would have started about 30 minutes earlier. We were doing various combinations of family members after the big group photo. I ran out of light before I could get all of the shots done. I also don't have any fast lenses which complicated matters. This was take with my 18-200 F3.5-5.6.

I think the posing looks really nice. Exposure looks good also, considering your all wearing white ( I really hate white shirts). I personally would keep the arch in my crop.

Tighter crop all the way. The landscaping is nice, but it's not unique enough to make it worthy of inclusion. Keep the attention on the family.
