I dig your work. Very natural and sweet. I'm going to be shooting this in about a week or two, as our second child is due on the 17th. I'm looking to shoot just that. A swaddled infant, newborn, and I'm interested in what you do for light. Looks to me, judging from the catch lights, one, relative to the subject anyway, big softbox. That's my thought, as I pretty much dislike natural light "photography", unless it's landscapes or other HUGE objects.

Thank you :)

This photo was taken using a softbox & strobe - you are right - but I also had a huge window open near the baby as well.

I mostly shoot with natural light and strobe together - I like to get window catch lights, if you look super close you can see trees in the bub's eyes :)

A few more from the same session - the mum asked me to photo shop the peely skin out of some and leave it in others :

I misspoke. Generally my style is to shoot similar to you. Available + fill with a softbox. I too like the giant catch lights from a large natural source. I rarely shoot anything strictly "flash".
