I believe it. I had to return a new 40D a couple of years ago that when turned off and placed in the bag would continue to fire intermitently. Canon laughed at me, but B&H replaced it.

Well dropped it off at Irvine Repair Center and contacted me 3 days later to say they need my Lens? I tried it with multiple canon lens. I had the problem even without the lens.

I have to agree your shutter button is stuck. Needs replacement.

that sounds like the start of: "we were unable to replicate the fault"

at least you can point them to the video's...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Should have burned a copy of your videos on a CD for them so they can see it themselves. It sounds as they Canon's not able to replicate the problem.

Yea im considering doing that now. Who knew what they wouldnt have access to youtube. I guess there must have been some mishap here Canon decided to restrict "certain" internet pages.

The 7D that I just got a few days ago is doing almost the identical thing. It behaved this way out of the box. I am in the process of preparing a video to illustrate the bizarre behavior.

I purchased the Camera on 10/13 and received it on 10/18. Had problems from the first week called the service personnels 3 times.
I’m currently disappointed in Canon and Canon personnels.

You both had problems within 7 days of taking possession.

Why even bother contacting Canon?

Why not just return the defective camera to the store you purchased it from?

Heck, even BestBuy gives you a 14 Day Return Policy.

most large companies block non work related websites where people can waste time watching videos / instant messaging / social sites like facebook etc so no surprise they are blocking it

As has been said most bigger companies and many small one block access.

You could always email them the video file.

Hey I had the same EXACT problem. Everything you explained in the video happened to my camera. I sent it in and Canon replaced the Whole Shutter Release Button Assembly and it works perfectly.

You should either return it to the place where you bought it or send it in into Canon. Let me know how they fixed yours. B/c Canon told me they couldnt reproduce the problem but out of precaution just replaced the Assembly.

Just curious what firmware version you had installed at the time of this phenomenon?
