I used to have a friend back in Uni, who is American (Boston), and between lectures he always say "let's go get a soda or something", I was like get what?? :p

Re; Canon’s progress
They show up with tech like the germans in WW2 . My highschool machine shop teacher , a Russian who 20 years before was the head tool and die cutter for the AVRO ARROW showed me a german propoganda magazine showing a massive underground generator with an engineer next to it to show scale , with the heading
“if it exists, it’s obsolete”

My wishes for the Mark III: - +/-3 EV (or more) - 100% viewfinder coverage - better AF system with 19 cross-type AF points. Ideally the AF points should cover a larger portion of the viewfinder - multi controller joystick present on the grip too

My wishes are:

1. An exposure lock in manual mode, such that when I want to change the DOF with the aperture, that the shutter speed adjusts to match the exposure I had chosen before. Instead of clicking the same amount in each dial again and again.

2. A histogram based on the actual raw file

3. Better AF, especially if the MP increases again (which gives less room for error)

4. Better low ISO performance

I sent my 5D to Canon for cleaning and adjustment and received the quote back yesterday.
In the email there is a box encouraging one to call about Canon's loyalty upgrade program.
On a whim I called. The 5D2 is no longer available in the upgrade program.
The lady tried hard to upgrade me to a 7D though.:)
Something is going to happen pretty quick I would bet.

Gear list:
Some light catchers, a few twist on thingy's, a couple of flashing lights, mounting poles, a lot of manuals I can't read and a couple of old gunny sacks to throw it all in.

Well, I wouldn't call a 5D - 7D an upgrade. Or a downgrade. I'd call it a "different-grade" because the 7D is a considerably different animal compared to the 5D classic.

I'd like to see

21 MP ;)
100% VF coverage
6 FPS (unlikely)
AF system similar to 7D
13-stop dynamic range
Reasonable price (also unlikely)

I want better high ISO speeds and no increase of MP's.
Better AF
100% VF
And the same EV compensation as on the 7D.

This camera would be mine in a heartbeat!

If this is true, then I don't expect Canon to offer a new camera. Sales will have to slow for them to do anything about it.

absolutely no way "better ISO while don't increase MP". stop dreaming.

5d2 has better ISO AND more MP than 5d1, that's what they should do instead.

5D3 and a few lens

if you want a raw based histogram, shoot in neutral, pull back the contrast slider all the way.
Right now the pentax k5 has a 14 stop dynamic range. the new sony sensor is amazing that way. There are images posted of it being pushed by 5 stops or so, and you still dont get the ugly banding.
the 3 things that i want, in that order
1. Better autofocus. 7D's would be fine
2. Better dynamic range in low iso, with cleaner files. the high iso is already pretty good. I just want a little more DR and cleaner files at low iso
3. improvements in video function. Allow me to dial in ec in manual video and auto iso. improve the live view autofocus.

5d classic still reigns supreme in my house lol no plans on upgrading whatsoever, my clients wont kno the diff between a 5dc and a 5dmark XIII the 5d classic still take incredible images, and at its price point there are NO competitors.

the LCD screen alone on 5dc is enough to make one switch... terrible.
and no video and horrible ISO range... psssh, your clients might not know the difference but you would :D
