Mike your acne removal looks awesome, but his nose in this one looks like it pealed after tanning.

Just did a senior session last weekend on the one sunny day we had here in Washington. We got really lucky since we didn't know what the weather would be like when we set up the day.

really like #1. On the 3rd shot i think you missed some opportunity. I never take a straight on shot like that unless im testing the light. Theres nothing wrong with the shot. It just that you could have not much more with it. use the entire bench for your benefit. A friend that helped me with posing told me this----- If it can bend, bend it. If it can twist. twist it.

i went to google images and attached this as an example of what you can do with that wonderful prop you had. Not being critical at all. So, twist her, turn her, doing something so that shes not straight on the camera axis,,just my thoughts and i hope it helps you in the future

i have 8ft ceilings and another 14 inches of open rafter above ceiling line. 8' ceilings are a PIA if they are finished. Light bounces into your scene and subject. So that means no standing shots for people over 5' 9",,hard to get a hair light on them. You would probably be forced to get them sitting or on a chair, or sitting on the floor. 10' ceilings work,,12" is a dream come true---my studio is 11"8" wide 36' long. i do a lot of cropping to get full standing shots but it can be done. the girl is 5' 8" and i have her boomed with a hair light----if my ceiling was finished and dry walled off,,i would not be able to get the shot

Got any tips for a senior guy who is not thrilled about being photographed? (I've never seen him, but I know he plays soccer)
mama is the instigator.

mama is the instigator.

Have him bring a soccer ball, shoot him juggling the ball in all sorts of different settings... In the woods, on the street corner, almost anywhere. That will loosen him up a little bit, then work with him to get a few shots for mom.

When I'm working with guys, "Give me the smile your mother wants to see", usually makes them giggle. I start rapid fire mode about the time I say "Mother", and by the time they try to give me the "smile" they think Mom wants... I'm done. I got the real smile when they laughed at my statement!

Jennifer, offer to light his soccer ball on fire. Guys dig fire. I've not had a guy yet who can resist the lure of pyromania.

jennifer

you have to play into the 17yr old senior boy mentality. last thing they want to do is look like a nerd or feminine. Huge worry for HS guys. Tell them to bring props, sunglasses work, soccer ball, try to get a couple of action shots because they will dig that, Get a good Pose book for guys. Jens fabulous stuff has some good ones. Once they see your trying to make them look " cool " they relax and you will get good results. Mom shots are a must and so are cool guy stuff that they can show thier friends. I get them to do both. Mom always buys the smileys for her walls,,senior always gets the cool guy shots for the wallets. Both come away happy campers and you will get referrals. If he has a car, thats a big help as well

Great advise everyone! I have a tough time with the guys, much harder than the girls, that is for sure. I did have one guy that is a huge jokester...we got a shot of him in an old outhouse! LOL That was hilarious to do, and is his favorite shot! Even mom thought it was funny and fit his personality.

been playing with the washed out over exposure look. my client really liked it on her daughter. This girl is a big girl,,about 270lbs, So i struggled with trying to pose her and hide some of the weight. these poses worked pretty good

Not a senior, but just about the same age....I tried a few things after being inspired by this thread. I posted the pix already in another thread and don't want to double post, so here is the link. I look forward to CC I take with me for next time.....
