I'm looking for a third lens to take on a travel around Asia on a full frame camera. I have a 24-105L and a fast portrait 85mm f/1.8 but I was wondering whether it would be better to go high quality prime or a longer, more convenient lens. Cost is not an issue as it will probably be sold after this.
The 24-105 is just a general purpose lens while the 85 was picked up after seeing the work http://www.flickr.com/photos/mytripsmypics/ did with one across the world.
I want to take portraits and candids as I have never taken a wide angle landscape shot I have been "wowed" by and frankly enjoy portraiture more, wouldn't mind something for shallow DOF still life shots and environmental portraits of people.
Problem with the 70-200mm is weight and showy-ness. Nothing like a big white lens to shout "rob me", particularly if you are young.
