Seems like a cop out to say this, but the finest lenses I've owned are the ones I currently own. That's why I held onto them after all. (50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 70-200 f/4L)

Of those the 50 1.4 is my favorite. It's on my camera almost all the time.

100 macro. It's the only lens I own that I simply can't find a fault with.

Canon 400 F/5.6 and Sigma 150 macro. Both just simple lenses with great sharpness, colours and contrast that are so easy to swing around all day.

I'm elated to have seen some EF-S lenses (17-55) make the cut...early and several times too.

It's difficult to say which was the best that I've used.
I'd have to say the 35L or the 24L II on Full Frame (in that order because I owned the 35L first) and the 17-55 on APS-C.

I haven't yet tried the Canon 10-22 yet...but we'll see sooner or later.
