I have decided to get serious about learning, so please be totally honest! I can take it, I promise.

These were taken yesterday afternoon, and all pp was done in Lightroom.

Your daughter is gorgeous. I would have gone a little deeper on the focus and made it so that her face, hair, and body were all in focus while leaving the background all out of focus.

Oh my goodness- those eyes + the chubby cheeks + the little mouth= extreme adorableness!

Loving my new camera! I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing with it,
but giving "hobbyist p

#1
A little more DOF and back up to include top of head.
Those big brown eyes would look better if they were not reflecting so much bright blue sky. Have her looking towards a more shaded area. It looks like she loves the camera.
#2
The cut off legs don't look good. Try a lower angle showing the entire child but still focusing on the toes with a minimum DOF.

Thanks, for the tips and the complements!

I do wish the top of her head wasn't cut off, but she moves so darn much! I will back up and increase DOF, and try again - that will give me more leeway to get her in focus when she's wobbling, too. Her eyes are so darn reflective, being such a dark, smooth brown, but I will experiment with that too.

And I had a feeling #2 was going to be...not as popular. Hehe. I like it, but I can see why others wouldn't.

I really like them both. I think the first would be perfect with the top of the head.

Excellent work on both shots. If I were to change anything I might try making the first one a little cooler or reducing saturation. But it's beautiful as-is.

I like them but I wish this was a 3 piece picture because it looks like she's missing her midsection.

Thanks all! And I am glad I'm not the only one that likes the second one. :)
