I've just discovered my fellow Hungarian, Bence Mate's works. I've heard about him from a cousin of mine who lives in Hungary.

Bence's work is just absolutely stunning, and he has a long list of international prizes and awards, has been among the elite of nature (primarily birds) photographers in the world for almost a decade. And he is only 25!

Anyway, since he's my fellow countryman, lives and works actually not very far from where I'm from originally (and where my parents still live), I felt that I needed to draw your attention to his works. (I did a search first but got no hits here on the forum.)

And here is a professionally made short film about his method (with English subtitles). Very interesting to say the least.

It's strange we have not heard of this young man. The video clearly demonstrates his enthusiasm and guts to get his shots. He's an inspiration to any youngster bent on wildlife photography and shows the shots are out there to be grabbed.

Thanks for pointing us in his direction.

I met Bence at the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award events in London last month. I was there to collect my runner up award. Bence came away with the overall winning award. Bence was a very nice young man and his award winning photo was amazing.

Great! A POTN member who knows him and met him.
I'm thinking about contacting him next time I'm going back home to Hungary. He doesn't live far from my parents. :)

Thanks for sharing! This is a amazing guy! He looks very young as well! He is one lucky guy to capture and grace those moments! I am sure a lot of us would be able to get some decent pictures like him if we had the same setup, place etc. Nevertheless he has talent! Is it me or is he using a Sigma 150-500 IS :D?
