Ascension Island

I have been to Lages and Ascension myself. That is a good shot of Ascension Island. BTW, it looks like your just a little high on the approach to Ascension, but then again, it could be the camera and the zoom. The only time I ever got to see it on approach was at night or very early in the morning so what would I know, I have never seen that view in daylight. I also see there is an ATI DC-8 sitting on the ramp. While in Lages, did you by chance have the opportunity to visit the Tropical Point Restaurant? Excellent place to dine and relax.

I love the aircraft carrier landing at Sedona. If you ever get the chance, go to the airport in Flagstaff and hire a pilot to fly you to Sedona through the red rocks in the late afternoon.

I don't have any approach photos at Macau, but it is a real "Aircraft Carrier", built into the bay on what is esentially a pier/causway.

I do have a video of landing the 747 LCf (Dreamlifter) taken with the 5D MKII, at Anchorage, as I was sitting in the jumpseat instead of flying that day.

Cheers: T

More like "landed". This is my "ride" when I am back home. Here at what I call "Black Wolf Lake", some 90 miles South of Fairbanks in the Alaska Range.

Cheers: T

Being both the photographer and the pilot has some challenges, one being in and out of the plane at once. I suppose I could set the camera up on the shore and trigger it with my radio remote as approach and fly over.

The one I do have of myself landing on the Ruth Glacier on McKinley was taken by my climbing partner...

Cheers from snowland: T

I know of instances where the photographer put flashes in the cockpit (helo) which didn't trigger until the aircraft was X feet away from the camera on a fly by so I can't see why it wouldn't work the other way around in triggering a camera as you go over / past!

Pair of PW+'s and have some fun! Just don't hit the camera on landing!

Short final for RWY 4R at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ

IMAGE: http://crosswindimages.com/img/s10/v18/p680862504.jpg
(Note the Gullwing Stinson over the Refrigerators using the right half. We're lined up with the left half which gave me (in the right seat) the sight picture right down the runway.)

Flight Simulator buffs will recognize this one. Ry 36 at Meigs before they carved up the runway in the middle of the night!

Yeah, that was a sneaky, chicken**** thing to do.

So you guys were a flight or did the Stinson make it off before you had to go around?

We were a flight of two... Both aircraft (and their pilots) are a known quantity at Falcon.
