You know, I've always used my left eye -- not because I'm left-handed but just because I figured cameras were designed that way....

They were actually designed to be used with the right eye, though with modern cameras it makes much less difference. In the days of manual-advance film SLRs you needed to use the right eye at the eyepiece if you wanted to advance the film without taking your eye away.
