This one could cause some damage, a seller with a feedback rating of over 350k. This is just the 1Ds III list.

Usually my 1Ds3 search on eBay will yield 20-30 hits with most of them being accessories. I knew something was wrong when I got 577 hits.

This just screams scam and "let me rob you!"

I'm not sure of the rules on ebay, but can you auction the same item for bid 10 times? Each items says the same thing.

"I am a professional photographer and I am winding down my business, so this unfortunately must go! I own two of these - this unit was my "back-up" body and as such was rarely used. It is in absolute mint condition. It comes complete with the box and all accessories as shown. "

That's the same lifted description that has shown up in a lot of CL scams.

This one is so obvious it is hard to imagine anyone falling for it.

I reported one of the listings. They responded that it may take up to 72 hours to investigate. They also stated that I will not be informed of the results of their investigation.

I reported one of them but who knows how many people will be scammed. It works by the 'seller' directing people to email and then the funds are demanded via WU or some other insecure payment method.

I saw a hijacked account like this one two days ago from seller "hodgepodgegarage2". I reported it that evening and it was fixed by eBay by the following morning. They had listed over 300 high-end electronic items and all of the listings claimed that their main e-mail was not working and to please contact them on their secondary e-mail. All of the listings, ironically, had the same $1,700 buy-it-now price. This type of account hijacking seems to be the new way for these scumbags to defraud people. What's scary is that these listings scream of fraud, but people still bid on them.

wow another account! there are too many hopeful people in the world that would do western union thinking they're saving some money!

then again, i recently sold something and the guy practically insisted on paying me by money gram because he hates paypal.

The one mistake here is that the people who are usually in the market for a 1Ds3 are very experienced photographers, it's not a camera some unsuspecting noob would be looking for. This type of scame usually works best on high priced consumer gear.
